Novacon 2008
Novacon was yesterday and I had a great time. I spent a lot of money and barely anyone showed up. So many people backed out at the last minute it was hard to fill all of the space. But the sketch club had a good time hanging out with each other I think. Next year will be awesome and more people will come, I'm sure of it.

Holy Comic Books Batman!
So hey, I love drawing, who would have thought it? Not me for sure but this writing and drawing gig is really taking my imagination to a new level. I have the fever and I am running with it. I've finished five comics and have six more penciled waiting for the ink and many others in the developement stage. I really have learned a lot doing all of this and I think it will prove to be a good fun thing for this year of productions. Once the equipment comes in I'll start with animation so the world may enjoy my twisted sense of humor. Love to all. I'll post some of the books up sometime when I get a chance to find my scanner.

My First Comic Book!!!!!!
At the 24 hour comic event I made a stick comic about my favorite game, The Kingdom of Loathing. I liked making comics so much that I kept it going with some strips and an epilogue to the first issue. The second comic is due out here in a week or so. But the first has sold out twice. I sold out at the Expo and I made another printing and sold the last one two days ago. I love drawing these guys and people seem to like reading them, so WOOT! for everybody. If you would like to purchase a comic email me and I'll send one to you for $1.50. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
The Lubbock Comic Expo
On May 3rd The Sketch Club made history here in the South Plains. Lubbock held our very first pure comic expo! Set at the Science Spectrum and coordinated by some very talented folks, the Expo was an outstanding hit! 777 people joined in the fun, not to mention all of our panel guests, volunteers and other sponsors that gave their weekends to make this happen. We all worked so hard and I am so proud of the Sketch Club for making this happen. I did my fair share toward the end but the credit falls on Will Terrell and Robert Mora of Star Comics. This was their brainchild and what a success! I'm proud to call you friends!

Sketch Club Figure Drawing
Sketch Club hosts a drawing group that focuses on the nude figure. This is a great chance to learn human anatomy and structure while getting great tips from experienced artists with constructive critiques. I did my best to respect Alex's posing by keeping her time on camera as modest as possible. She is often a model for the group but there are many others, including males. Check out elsketchoclubo.com for a better description.

RECRUITING ZOMBIE HORDE :)
March 20 at 8pm come by my office at 1717 Ave K, Lubbock, TX and join in the Zombie fun. I need at least 30 people to group together and moan "brains" as you rush the building. It's a fun shot that I think would add a lot to the short Zombie film I'm doing.
Please respond or email to be a part of the Zombie horde.
Thanks and smiles will be provided.
See you there!

Hold up - New Stories!
I had been working on the script for what has come to be called "Zombie Girl." Far from a real title also far from finished. The story was coming along fine when I started researching indie film on the internet, specifically horror shorts. I wanted to get a good idea of what people were doing and how I could make it better. This is part of my process.
I found "You're scaring the children", by Soren Narnia. The film leaves a bit to be desired as far as film production, but the story had me hooked. The creepy quality of the film did add to the peculiar story of this man's childhood. It was a good time spent and I had to get in touch with him about the story. I thought the imagery of the events would be great on film. So I wrote him a note and he actually responded to me!
He gave me the go ahead to make the story into a film. He even sent me his ebook "Knifepoint Horror". You should check out his blog, he is one creatively cool writer. I was really fond of the story about the batting machine in first person.
Since he gave me permission and full artistic license to make his story, I am stopping pre- production on Zombie Girl. We are now focusing on getting You're scaring the children up and running. Fortunately, the actors i have talked to about the zombie flick don't mind acting in this film either. woot!
Along with a bunch of other things, video blogging will commence in the next few days. Let's hope the lens doesn't break. ha!

The Big Day
Z opened our first autonomous office this past Wednesday. I have run this ramshackle company from my laptop for so many years it is really hard to know what to do with the space I am renting. I have a desk a computer and a window that opens, this is the good life. I have so many projects on their way this month it is going to be really fun to get it all in order. New crew members have come a long with the new office. The film I shot this autumn is still in editing phase, simply because I have never edited a film before. I think I'm doing a good job. I've read quite a bit about the medium and played with the software so i know what it can do. I am anxious to get off the computer and get behind the camera again. I have one film that is in script phase. A sweet love story about a failed medical student and a cognizant zombie on the run from a terrible circ de macabre.
